The day after adopting Mya I took her to our vet for her check-up. The first question the vet had for me was "How did you choose?" I told her that she would know how as soon as Mya came out of the cat-carrier. The vet set Mya on the floor to see her walk. Mya was very scared so the vet kneeled down next to her. Mya turned around and immeditaly climbed up into the vet's lap. It was love at first sight for the vet also, she then knew the answer to her question.
Mya was very scared and depressed, she had been at NHS for over 4 months and really needed a good home. I knew she was the perfect fit, my other cat had different ideas about the the "fit." Zoe was not happy with her new "kitty-sister" and she was not happy with me, but I was determined to give it time and make it work. I kept them seperated with a baby-gate and allowed them to slowly get to know eachother. They made it clear when they were ready to meet. It took Mya and Zoe about 2 weeks to become best friends.
I thank Mya everday for not giving up and for waiting at NHS for me to find her.
